The Wheeler Way
- 4 May
- University of Essex, Sports Arena , Wivenhoe Park, Colchester, CO4 3SQ
Organised by Toby Wheeler - who has cerebal palsy and wants to give other people the chance to enter a race - the Wheeler Way is a 400m walking event for people with physical impairments. The event will see money raised for Team Angus - a charity close to Toby's heart raising money to support Angus, a young boy with CP.
This race is an achievement of distance, not time. There will be two races held and participants will be split into ability groups. Particpants 12 years and older can enter race one, and participants 2-12 years old can enter race two.
The distance is 400 metres but if this is too far for some participants they are able to drop out at any point - everyone will still receive a medal, t-shirt and goodie bag.
The track is set up at 150 metres and can be looped three3 times to complete the whole distance.
Marshalls will be set around the track to offer any assistance, parents or carers can be on track to provide support too.
There is a changing places facility which has a ceiling track hoist in place for participants who require hoisting for transfers.

The event will take place at the University of Essex, Sports Arena on Saturday 4 May. Race on will take palce at 2:30pm and race two at 4pm.
