Para-cyclists Turnham and Hall back on top in Switzerland
Today (Sunday 14 June 2015) Lora Turnham and Corrine Hall completed an amazing turnaround taking first place in the tandem time-trial in Switzerland after finishing in fourth place in Italy just over a week ago.
The 2013 time-trial world champions finished nearly two seconds clear of Polish riders Iwona Podkoscielna and Aleksandra Wnuczek to take the gold medal and find their best form ahead of next month’s road world championships.
The cooler conditions at this weekend’s event seemed to suit the British riders and Karen Darke was back to something approaching her best, taking the silver medal in the H3 time-trial in the morning, finishing 15 seconds behind Polish winner Renata Kaluza, but over 50 seconds ahead of American Alicia Dana Breflsford in third.
In the rest of today’s action there was another top five finish for Stephen Bate and Adam Duggleby in the men’s tandem time-trial as they continued their consistent start to the world cup season. Simon Price took 6th place in the men’s C2 race while there were also top ten finishes for Jon Gildea (C5) and Jaco Van Gass (C4).
The next two days will see the rider’s compete in their respective road races.
