England heads into Quarter Finals after topping group at CP Worlds

England’s fine form at the Cerebral Palsy World Championship continued on Friday afternoon, with a 5-0 victory over the Netherlands.

The Three Lions knew that a win against the Dutch would be enough to see them top their group and head into the quarter final on Monday with confidence.

Andy Smith’s side will now take on either Ukraine or USA in the last eight as the competition enters its knock-out stage in Argentina

It was another strong performance from England, who started the game well, again enjoying the best of the possession and probing their opponents on the back of heavy wins in their first two games against Japan and Venezuela.

And it took 16 minutes to find the breakthrough, when Ollie Nugent finished well from the edge of the box to give England a deserved lead.

The Dutch didn’t even have a chance to react to falling behind as England doubled the lead just two minutes later when George Fletcher picked out Nugent in space and he did the rest with a stunning left-footer.

Jack Rutter made his first appearance of the tournament in the second half and it didn’t take long for him to make an impact as he struck home to make it 3-0, before Michael Barker netted a penalty and quickly followed that up with a second goal to complete the scoring.
