Love Activity, Hate Exercise? - CSP unveil new campaign

Physical inactivity is a major public health problem and something that Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) members want to tackle through a new campaign, ‘Love Activity, Hate Exercise?’ launching to the public in July.

The campaign draws on insight from patients and members across the physiotherapy profession. This includes physiotherapists with expertise in physical activity and behaviour change, to help identify the barriers that prevent patients to becoming more active.

Only 50 per cent of UK adults do the recommended minimum of 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise each week. CSP's new campaign aims to improve this by targeting people who find it most difficult to start and maintain exercise.

Love Activity, Hate Exercise? recognises that people often have a love/hate relationship with physical activity and exercise, but with new resources, tips and ideas produced for the campaign, they hope to give patients the motivation and confidence to get physically active.

Healthcare professionals and physiotherapists have an important role to play in promoting physical activity. CSP wants to help professionals maximise the opportunities they have to discuss the benefits of physical activity and any barriers to it, so that exercise becomes more accessible to a wider range of people.
