England Athletics courses with communication support

England Athletics is delivering a range of courses, which provide communication support for deaf attendees. Those people interested are advised to sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Qualify as a Leader in Running Fitness (LiRF)

Do you have an interest in running for fitness and would like to lead a group? Then this is the course for you!

The Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course will enable you to deliver fun and safe sessions to multi-ability groups and give advice and support to the new runner, as well as developing pathways for those who want to progress.

It focuses on understanding and overcoming barriers to participation in running and how to increase participation by those not traditionally attracted to a running club.

Cost : £150 or £130 for England Athletics affiliated club members

Qualify as a coaching assistant

Are you interested in taking the first step in to coaching and want to understand the fundamental technical principles of coaching?

This course will provide technical coaching knowledge to underpin running, throwing and jumping activities. You will then learn how to apply these principles into a number of fun and exciting practical activities!

Topics covered include:

  • Understanding fundamental movement skills
  • Managing challenging behaviours
  • Delivering warm ups and cool downs
  • Coaching through fun, safe and enable games
  • Delivering speed work and endurance based activities
  • Understanding the mechanics of jumping and throwing
  • Principles of session planning
