England Athletics and EFDS launch UK Disability Inclusion Training-Athletics Course

England Athletics, in partnership with the English Federation of Disability Sport, is pleased to be launching the UK Disability Inclusion Training course-Athletics (UK DIT-Athletics). The UK Disability Inclusion Training-Athletics course is a general awareness course to support clubs and coaches to include disabled people in athletics.

Spread over seven hours, the course is for anyone who is involved in an athletics club who wants to know more about including disabled people in the sport. The practical session is particularly relevant to coaches and leaders. Ideally designed for people who have little or no experience of working with disabled participants, the course is also useful for those who are not necessarily working with disabled participants already.

Following a recent inclusion review, all of our coach education courses now follow a ’golden thread’ to support coaches with initial guidance on coaching disabled athletes. This, along with the new UK DIT-Athletics course, now complements the existing opportunities for clubs and coaches, including the Local Coach Development Programme, Flying Coach visits, uCoach resources and the Inclusive Club Health Check, to further their disability knowledge.

For more information for clubs and coaches please go to the England Athletics disability pages or contact your local Athletics Club and Coach Support Officer (CCSO).
