Nomination entries open for Love Fisher Brown Award

The Bowls Development Alliance is delighted to announce the new launch of the Love Fisher Brown Award 2018. The Award, sponsored by Factory Eleven, is created to recognise clubs that provide participation opportunities for their disabled bowlers.

Bowls England, Disability Bowls England and the English Indoor Bowling Association form the Bowls Disability Steering Group. The award is named after the remarkable Commonwealth Games achievements of Bob Love, David Fisher and Paul Brown. It highlights the excellent work undertaken by clubs with disabled bowlers around the country, and provide a benchmark for other clubs to aspire towards.

Peter Gray from Factory Eleven said of the Love Fisher Brown Award:

“Factory Eleven are delighted to be sponsoring the Love Fisher Brown Award 2018. To be associated with an award, which seeks to identify, recognise and rewards clubs providing participation opportunities for disabled young people and adults, sits perfectly alongside our own company values of inclusivity and sport for all.
“BowlsParc has proven to be a very popular resource for bowls clubs and coaches to date. We hope that this year’s award recipients enjoy using the BowlsParc equipment we are providing, unlocking further opportunities for social, fun and inclusive participation.”

All clubs affiliated to either Bowls England or English Indoor Bowling Association that offer opportunities for disabled bowlers are encouraged to nominate. We welcome applications from all clubs working with disabled people, including: running regular sessions for disabled bowlers; positively affecting a disabled person or group’s physical, social and/or mental well-being through bowls; or successfully integrating a number of disabled people into the club. Nominations can be submitted by anyone within the club (e.g. club member, volunteer, coach or committee member), or outside the club (e.g. disabled participant, carer, friend or relative).

Clubs can be nominated by completing the 2018 Love Fisher Brown nomination form. Available on Bowls Development Alliance’s website: http://playbowls.org/disability-bowls/love-fisher-brown-award. Nominators can either email the completed form to disability@playbowls.org, or complete the paper form and post it to:
