Activity Alliance reviews a successful year at our AGM

Activity Alliance held the charity’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 11 October 2018. We welcomed representatives from our Members and other supporters at The Link Hotel in Leicestershire. Those present learned more about this year's work and our goals for the future as the charity enters a new strategic period.

Our Chair, Charles Reed and Andy Dalby-Welsh, Deputy Chief Executive, welcomed the guests. They presented this year’s Impact Report, recalled some of the charity’s successes and outlined the direction of our new 2018-2021 Strategy, Achieving Inclusion Together.

In the Impact Report, Barry Horne, Chief Executive, speaks highly about the powerful impact our work has made over the year:

"Each year, I am taken back by the scale and importance of the work Activity Alliance undertakes. Collaboration with our partners and stakeholders continues to be central to everything we do.
"I am extremely proud of the dedication shown and impact made by Activity Alliance staff on a daily basis. Together we are determined to change the reality of disability, inclusion and sport."

The AGM was also a poignant time as staff, Trustees and Members said thank you and goodbye to Charles Reed, who retired from his role as Chair after seven years at the helm.

In the Impact Report, Outgoing Chair, Charles Reed said:

"I have enjoyed wonderful support from my fellow Trustees past and present, all of whom have been committed to shaping our strategic direction to achieve the vision.
"Barry Horne and all the employees at Activity Alliance have been great to work with. Without their dedication, hard work and commitment we could not possibly be in the strong and respected position we are now."

Charles was on hand to provide a warm welcome and introduction to Sam Orde, who formally took over as Activity Alliance Chair at the AGM. Chair for Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) for eight years, Sam brings with her a wealth of skills and experience. Former event rider Sam is an experienced coach for the RDA. She has worked tirelessly to transform opportunities for riders and drivers at a national and regional level.

Activity Alliance would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has worked with us to make active lives possible. We look forward to building on this year’s achievements.
