The event welcomes people of all ages and abilities to take part in a series of fun runs from 5km to 100m, including the ever-popular Super Sensory 1km course. With disability inclusion at the heart of the experience, Parallel University of Nottingham operates with the spirit of ‘Start Together, Finish Whenever’.

University of Nottingham, the recently awarded Good University Guide 2019 - Sport University of the year, is creating an inclusive and equitable teaching and learning environment to the benefit of all students. With 10 per cent of its 34,000 strong student body differently abled, the university is the perfect partner for the regional Parallel event.

Parallel founder, Andrew Douglas, explains:

“I could not be more excited about this Parallel partnership with the University of Nottingham. The disability support services for students at the university are second to none and we share a passion and ethos to bring to life the positive benefits of inclusivity. Parallel University of Nottingham will deliver a new experience of disability that promises to connect communities and empower more people to enjoy active lifestyles. I cannot wait to take part in our first university event.”

Professor Sarah Sharples, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Nottingham said:

“It is important that we, as a University, understand and work to remove the barriers facing under-represented groups, whatever those challenges might be. We are delighted to partner with Parallel for their first all-ability fun run on University Park. We share the belief that opportunities should be open and accessible to all. Through our disability sport provision, we know the positive benefits of inclusivity and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the event in May.”

Andrew Douglass founded Parallel and it is supported by the live event and experience agency innovision. Parallel’s purpose is to be a positive catalyst in changing the negative image of disability and enabling everybody to fulfil potential to the best of their abilities. In just two years, Parallel has been a platform for over 100 charities. It has helped to raise over £1million and enable thousands of people, families and communities to get active together for the very first time.

Registration opens soon. For more information on the event, please visit www.parallellifestyle.com.
