Nominations open for North East Disability Sports Awards
The North East Disability Sports Awards will recognise and reward the sporting achievements of local participants, clubs, coaches and volunteers in 2013. There are many contributions that have been made to disability sport across the region and the organisers want to celebrate the success.
The event is in its 7th year and is supported by the English Federation of Disability Sport, the 4 North East County Sport Partnerships (CSPs), D&P Trophies, Metro Rod North East, Future Sport, Transforming Culture and House of Type.
It is being held on Tuesday 25 February 2014 at The Durham Centre, Belmont Industrial Estate, Durham, DH1 1TN.
Nomination categories
Male Personality
For males who have achieved sporting excellence at a regional, national or international level
Female Personality
For females who have achieved sporting excellence at a regional, national or international level
Young Male Achiever
For boys aged 17 and under (at 31st December 2013) who have achieved success at a regional, national or international level
Young Female Achiever
For girls aged 17 and under (at 31st December 2013) who have achieved success at a regional, national or international level
Club of the Year
An inclusive mainstream or disability sports club or community group which provides high quality opportunities for disabled sports people
Coach of the Year
A coach who has made a highly significant contribution to disability sport within the region over the last year
Participant of the Year
An individual with a disability whose participation in sport has significantly changed their life over the past year
Service to Sport Award
An individual, administrator, coach or official who has made a highly significant voluntary contribution to disability sport within the north east
