New wheelchair rugby team for Gloucester

A new Wheelchair Rugby club providing opportunities for disabled people to get active and involved in sport has launched in Gloucester. Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) has formed a new partnership with Aviva Premiership Rugby giants, Gloucester Rugby and The University of Gloucestershire.

The partnership will create a new adult Wheelchair Rugby club and also deliver community and youth programmes to schools across Gloucestershire and create a regular youth training session. The programme will be funded by Gloucester Rugby and run by students at the university.

David Pond Chief Executive of Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby said:

'Gloucester is a city with rugby at its heart and we have been able to maximise Sport England investment into developing a strong and exciting partnership. Along with the support of the University the new club is sure to be a success.'
