English Snooker partner with Disability Sport Events

Following the recognition by Sport England of English Snooker (EASB)- the governing body for snooker and billiards - Disability Sport Events (DSE) have agreed to support the management handover of the disability snooker championships to the governing body.

DSE have hosted the disability snooker championships for over 20 years and will now work alongside English Snooker to develop their competitions and opportunities for disabled people to compete in the sport. EASB believe that the inclusion of disabled people is a key responsibility as a governing body.

John Hartley, said:

“EASB are proud to count our disabled players as members within our sport and in taking over the management of the national championships show our commitment to raising the profile of the sport and increase opportunities for disabled people to be involved at a club and competition level”

The national championships which are usually hosted in October will be rescheduled into the English Snooker event calendar for 2013.

Existing participants who wish to be kept informed of the changes or new participants who are interested in getting involved in snooker should contact English Snooker via e-mail. To find out more about opportunities to participate in snooker, please visit English Snooker

We will continue to promote the national championships and a wide range of events for disabled people including snooker, through our events programme at www.efds.co.uk/events
