Trustee vacancy at Activity Alliance

Does this sound like this could be you? Passionate, committed, knowledgeable, unique, dedicated, humorous, enthusiastic, and fair. If it does, you could be just the person we are looking for to join us on the Activity Alliance Board. (It is not essential to have previous board experience).

Our inclusive culture starts with our Board and works its way throughout our Alliance. We champion diversity of thought and want our Board to be representative of modern Britain in all its intersectional glory. As the leading voice for disabled people in sport and activity, ensuring our Board is diverse and inclusive is crucial to who we are as an organisation.

We are an energetic bunch - all with different life experiences, and you would never call any of us stuffy or boring. We pride ourselves on being quite the opposite. We are disabled and non-disabled people who come together for a minimum of five times a year. Together we are a mix of walks of life, ages and talents, and we are all people with a passion for change.

The Board meetings are professional, challenging, informative, and there is always plenty of laughter. Our Board, alongside our enthusiastic and committed staff team, take pride in working towards fairness for disabled people in sport and activity.

As we slowly emerge from the coronavirus pandemic, it’s clear that disabled people and people with long-term health conditions have been severely impacted. There is significant work to do.

Currently, our Board includes knowledge and experience in the disability, commercial, sport development, communications, finance, and education sectors. However, we are short of someone with expertise in or understanding of the health system at a strategic level. Someone with a fundamental understanding of how sport and activity positively influence health and can make a difference to disabled people’s lives.

We are particularly keen to hear from people with an ethnically diverse background to strengthen our Board.

Please do get in touch if this sounds like an exciting way to broaden your sport, charity or disability sector experience and to help us influence change.
