Mum and daughter take on the Para Tri event

Cheryl (44) and Lucy Ferguson (10) are a Mum and daughter team entering this year's Para Tri. They will take on the Sprint Para Tri Relay- a 150m swim, 3k cycle/push and a 1k run/push. The event takes place on 9 August at Dorney Lake, Windsor.

From Surrey, Mum of three, Cheryl, is taking up the challenge with her daughter, Lucy, in the UK's first ever Para Tri. The event is a mass-participation triathlon dedicated to disabled people, which supports entrants to take part in any way that suits them.

Cheryl plans to swim and cycle around the course before pushing her daughter, who is a wheelchair user, for the final glory over the finish line.

Excited about the challenge ahead, Cheryl said:

I see this as a landmark event for people with a disability. I know my daughter will love the occasion and will delight in running the final 1k with me.

Lucy has Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair. Her impairment means she can only say a few words.

Cheryl continues:

I’m excited to take part in a sporting event of this magnitude with Lucy. There are so many activities available for her sisters, when Lucy watches from the sidelines. This time it will be her sisters cheering us on.
