Tickets are now on general sale for the IFCPF (International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football) World Championships which take place at St George’s Park between 16-28 June 2015.

Host nation England will be joined by the 15 other leading teams from around the world to compete for the title of World Champions. The tournament is an important fixture in the football calendar, as it is also the main qualifier for the Rio Paralympic Games 2016.

Following a lunchtime opening ceremony, England will get the tournament underway with a Group A game against Japan on 16 June at 1.00pm. The Three Lions will then face clashes against two of the top-three ranked sides in the world,  Iran on 18 June at 7.00pm and Ukraine on 20 June at 5.00pm.

England Team Captain, Jack Rutter said:

'The draw poses a tough test, but we know that with hard work that we have been putting in and our determination and tactical awareness we can rise to the challenge.'

The CP Football World Championships is the first time St. George’s Park will host an international football tournament. Julie Harrington, Managing Director of St George’s Park said:

'We’ve been really delighted with the popularity of St. George’s Park across the whole football community and The Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships is another massive feather in the cap for us.
'It’s a tournament with a huge global reach, offering places for the Paralympic Games in Rio next year, and we are really privileged that St George’s Park will be hosting such a prestigious event.'

A total of 48 matches will take place over the 12 day tournament with a group stage and knock out rounds to determine the winner. With places at the Rio Paralympic Games at stake, all teams will be competing until the tournament concludes in the scrap for positional placing to make it to Brazil.

Tournament Director, Jeff Davis said:

'Everyone involved in getting this tournament off the ground has worked tirelessly and excitement is definitely growing with the tournament just six weeks away. The 2012 Paralympic Games put the quality of elite disability sport in everyone’s consciousness. I can promise everyone that comes to the Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships that they are in for a treat.'
