Over 190 athletes from around the world are set to take part in the Games, competing in 12 sports including track and field events sanctioned by the International Paralympic Committee, indoor sports, swimming and football.

On Saturday 2 May the National Dwarf Games will be officially opened by Double Paralympic Champion and DSAuk Patron Ellie Simmonds OBE at Alexander Stadium, Perry Barr. Competition will then get underway in track and field events. On Sunday 3 May the Games head to Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton for the indoor sports competition. Swimming and football events will take place on Monday 4 May at Cheslyn Hay Leisure Centre in Walsall.

Barry Horne, Chief Executive at the English Federation of Disability Sport will be amongst the many supporters at the Games. He said:

'I’m really looking forward to being back at the National Dwarf Games this year. These events always remind me how much fun competition can be. I wish all the competitors good luck in what promises to be an excellent weekend.'

President and Founder of Dwarf Sports Association UK, Arthur Dean has seen many people transform their lives through sport, he said:

'This organisation has played a major role in breaking down the barriers of difference in society towards people with dwarfism. It all began with 6 members and now boasts over 500. Seeing these young people develop in their lives as well as in sport is so rewarding and well worth the 22 years of team work.’

DSAuk and The National Dwarf Games has a long history of supporting athletes on their pathway to national, international and Paralympic sporting success. DSAuk Patrons Ellie Simmonds OBE and fellow swimmer Matt Whorwood, and powerlifter Zoe Newson have all competed at the National Dwarf Games early in their sporting careers, and have since gone on to compete at international and Paralympic level.

Entrance to the National Dwarf Games 2015 is free and spectators are welcome to come and enjoy a unique weekend of sporting action.
