RNC wins bid to host IBSA Blind Football European Championships 2015

The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) has won the bid to host the IBSA Blind Football European Championships 2015 in Hereford.

The Championships will take place from 22-29 August 2015 at thePoint4 in Hereford, the College’s international standard sports centre.

The tournament will act as a direct qualifier for the Paralympics Games in Rio 2016 and will showcase the very best blind footballers from ten countries in Europe. Hosts England will compete against France, Spain, Russia, Turkey, Italy, Greece, France, Poland and Belgium.

In 2010 the College hosted the IBSA Blind Football World Cup. This proved to be an amazing success, attracting over 9000 spectators and TV audiences from around the world.

Since then, the Paralympics 2012 have helped raise the profile of the sport and increased an already healthy interest in blind football as a spectator sport.

The Royal National College for the Blind are now looking for over 100 enthusiastic and energetic people to volunteer at the Championships. If you're interested in becoming a volunteer please click here to download a volunteer application form.

The RNC will be arranging short, informal interviews on various dates. If successful you will also be asked to attend a day’s training on 2 August 2015. Please note that all volunteers must be over the age of 16 on 20 August 2015.
