Stoke Mandeville Stadium hosts LimbPower Junior Games in October

LimbPower is proud to be holding the fantastic Junior Games once again at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, home of disability sport. The event on 10 October 2015 will introduce young amputees and people with limb impairments to a range of sporting activities in a safe, friendly and inclusive environment.

This year, the children and young people (aged 11-18 years) will be able to try a wide range of sports. They will be supported by coaches and mentors from the National Governing Bodies. Among the sports on offer is wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, athletics, table tennis and handcycling.

With a focus on fun, children will be encouraged to have a go at sports and socialise with their peers. It may even spark interest in continuing through the sport's pathway programme and create a future sports star!

The mother of a previous participant said of last year’s event:

“The Junior Games is such a confidence booster for Anna. She’s made friends and learned sports she would never have tried without it. It’s even inspired her to join an athletics club.”

Kiera Roche, Founder and Chief Executive of LimbPower commented:

“We’re thrilled to be able to run this event again and continue to offer the same opportunities to young people that we have been offering to adults at the LimbPower Games”.

Last year LimbPower achieved National Disability Sports Organisation status, and since then Andy Brittles has joined the LimbPower team as National Sports Development Officer. Andy commented:

“I’m really excited to be a part of this flagship LimbPower event.  Being able to reach out children and young people and nurture in them a love of sport that will hopefully last a lifetime is a real privilege.”

The Primary and Junior Games is supported by a number of organisations including the Douglas Bader Foundation and Leigh Day & Co.

The cost to attend is just £10 for those participating, with siblings welcome to register also and join in. Anyone interested in taking part should contact Andy Brittles on: andy@limbpower.com or 07503 030702. Alternatively registration forms can be downloaded from the website at www.limbpower.com
