England footballers set for Brazil challenge at CPISRA World Games

England v Brazil, a classic football fixture, will take place tomorrow (Wednesday 12 August) in the World Cerebral Palsy Under 19 Football Championships. The Championships form part of the football programme for the 2015 CPISRA World Games.

The talented England youngsters launched their campaign with a 2-0 win over Holland. Then followed it up with an impressive 15-0 victory over a young, inexperienced Japan team, to stake a strong claim for a semi-final place.

The clash with Brazil, who have also won their opening two matches, will bring the group stage of the competition to a close. England Performance Director Jeff Davies knows it will be a huge challenge for his side.

Jeff said:

"We kept the ball really well against the Dutch and we are obviously pleased with the result but we need to be a lot more clinical with our finishing. The Dutch goalkeeper gave an inspired performance but with the amount of chances we made we ought to have won by a bigger margin.”

The goal feast against Japan can only have boosted England’s confidence and Davies added:

“The lads are in a good place. Brazil are certain to provide us with our biggest challenge so far and it will be interesting to see how we react.
It’s a new group of players who have only played together a few times and the deeper they get into this competition, the more their confidence will grow.”
