World Archery Para Championships 2015 get underway in Germany

Today (Monday 24 August) sees the start of the World Archery Para Championships 2015 in  Donaueschingen, Germany. 18 British archers will compete alongside 280 athletes from around the world from 24 - 30 August. 

After almost two years of planning, the World Archery Para Championships 2015 are underway in Donaueschingen, Germany. This year's Championships sees a welcome return for the visually impaired archery event.

Over 280 athletes from 50 nations around the world, will come together with 190 officials and 180 volunteers for the week long event. On Sunday 23 August, the archery teams were officially welcomed to the Championships with a big opening ceremony at the Royal Horse-grounds in Donaueschingen.

From Monday 24th to Friday 28th August the qualification rounds will take place. Then on Satruday and Sunday, 29-30th August the highlight of the Championships, the finals will provide an exciting conclusion.

The 18-strong British archery team will be taking part. hoping to win medals and secure qualification for next year's Rio Paralympic Games.
