Three Lions' winning run continues at Blind Euros 2015

England maintained their perfect record at the 2015 Blind Euros and guaranteed their place in the next round with a 2-0 victory over Germany.

A packed house at thePoint4 saw an excitable England team continue their winning run with a thrilling victory over Germany.

The tension in the crowd was clear from the bursts of noise at every pause in play, the atmosphere was warm and friendly, with volunteers leading the crowd in a Mexican wave.

England attacked from the outset with Dan English nearly opening the scoring inside 30 seconds, shooting wide after a skilful dribble into the box. And then skipper Keryn Seal directed a shot well wide in the tenth minute as Germany were forced to defend almost constantly.

The breakthrough arrived in the 16th minute though, with Robin Williams making a big impact after going on as a substitute seconds earlier. His corner found Roy Turnham (pictured below), who weaved past three defenders before burying a shot inside the bottom left corner – his third goal of the tournament.

Less than two minutes later, Williams was on the scoresheet himself, firing in his sixth goal in three games after another corner on the right.

Germany's Lukas Smirek tried his luck with two shots, one of which was wide, while the other drew a low save from Dan James and English miscued after a lovely run before smashing one over the bar just before the break.

In the second half Williams continued to cause problems for Germany, drawing two saves from Keeper Enrico Goebel and he also went down in the box under a challenge, but nothing was given. Williams was awarded man of match for his performance and superb work rate.

England were on lively form and Head Coach Jon Pugh worked hard to reign them in. With just over three minutes left on the clock, England committed four team fouls gifting Germany a penalty. Alexander Fangmann's penalty shot was well saved by Dan James.

In the finals minutes of the match England continued to apply pressure, forcing Goebel into an impressive save with his legs. The only disappointment of the match for England was the loss of RoyTurnham to injury with six minutes remaining.

England a are now through to the next round with nine points, with one group game still to play. England Head Coach Pugh will be sure to speak to his team and ensure they remain focused on their match with Turkey at 19:30 on Wednesday 26 August.
