2016 Annual Torch Trophy Trust Awards

The Torch Trophy Trust is a charity that rewards, recognises and supports volunteers in sport and recreation. They offer bursaries and recognise the achievements of some of the UK's most outstanding volunteers in the annual Torch Trophy Trust Awards, presented by a member of the Royal Family. Nominations are open for 2016's awards.

Ever since the first ever Torch Trophy Trust meeting in 1962, the organisation has identified and honoured sporting volunteers who ordinarily would neither gain or seek recognition for their work with sports clubs and individual athletes in their local communities. Thanks to a partnership with the Sport and Recreation Alliance who graciously provide day-to-day support, they have been able to foster excellent relationships with governing bodies in all parts of the UK and across the entire sporting spectrum.

  • Do you know of any outstanding volunteers in the world of sport and recreation?
  • Do you know an individual who has given up their time in a voluntary capacity for a number of years to enable others in the community to participate in their chosen activity?
  • Do you know someone who has made a very significant contribution to the grass roots of your organisation’s activities on a voluntary basis and has received no previous national recognition?

If you can answer “Yes” to any of these questions they would like you to nominate an individual for a Torch Trophy Trust Award.

It is the Trust’s intention to recognise 20 volunteers for a Torch Trophy Trust Award for the 53rd year. The selection process will be taking place in late December, with the Awards being presented in March 2016 in the presence of a member of the Royal family. Therefore, your nomination should be received  by 14 December 2015.
