Mapping disability: Sport England research reveals nationwide picture

Sport England has released a new report, Mapping Disability: The Facts. It offers an in-depth look at the vast range of impairments people have in England. It also includes comprehensive data on disabled people by categories such as region, gender and age. The findings can help many providers to learn more about disabled people and the many layers of information involved in getting more disabled people active.

We know that disabled people are much less likely to take part in sport or activity than many other groups. That's why Sport England is increasing their efforts to fully understand, and provide for people with all impairments.

This resource is a great starting point to understand the complex picture of disabled people as a population in England.

Resource for partners

This first report is the perfect resource for National Governing Bodies of sport and other partners. It helps in planning effective programmes by knowing the audience better.

It is the first in a suite of resources that Sport England is developing over coming months and is designed to be used in conjunction with other insight available. We have supported Sport England to produce this resource. It complements a wealth of other research our team has worked on over the last few years. Find out more in our research section.

Additional information

There is a detailed narrative report to accompany this resource that you can also find along with our latest insight in the carousel below. The report was commissioned by Sport England and produced in partnership with OPM.
