Paralympic swimming champions line up for BIDSC

This year’s British International Disability Swimming Championships (BIDSC) will host 13 of London 2012’s Paralympic champions at Ponds Forge, Sheffield next month. With the Championships doubling up as the one and only trial for the British team for this summer’s IPC World Championships in Montreal, stakes are high for the home swimmers.

Head to British Swimming's BIDSC Subsection to find out more about some of the top British swimmers in action and view the schedule.

London 2012 golden girl Ellie Simmonds is the star attraction in the field while Jonathan Fox will also be looking to make an impact ahead of the defence of his S7 100m Backstroke world title in Canada.

Fellow Paralympic gold medallists Jessica-Jane Applegate, Oliver Hynd and Josef Craig will aim to book their spots at their first IPC World Championships

A host of international stars have confirmed their attendance as well, taking the opportunity to race against their British rivals.

The Netherlands will bring three of their Paralympic champions to Sheffield. Marc Evers, Michael Schoenmaker and Lisette Teunissen will be competing, alongside Germany’s Kirsten Bruhn, who is no stranger to BIDSC. She will look to add to further her medal collection at Ponds Forge.

London 2012 gold medallists Jon Margeir Sverrison (Iceland), Maja Reichard (Sweden), Michelle Alonso (Spain) and Darragh McDonald (Ireland) have also confirmed their entry for the meet.

Tickets are available to purchase in advance for BIDSC 2013 through Ticketmaster. Individual sessions tickets are available at concession or adult prices while four-day event passes are also available.
