Ensuring inclusion is at the heart of great coaching

UK Coaching is working alongside a range of partners to mark Coaching Week. It takes place from 4-10 June and this year’s inaugural event will see a week-long celebration of #GreatCoaching. As well as a major announcement later in the week, Activity Alliance is celebrating across our channels, promoting stories of coaches who make activity more inclusive and accessible.

To mark Coaching Week, UK Coaching is inviting people across the nation to share their experiences. To help people know what they are looking for, UK Coaching has worked with agencies to develop the Principles of Great Coaching.

Activity Alliance believes coaches can play an essential role in ensuring more disabled people’s experiences of sport and activity more meaningful. Inclusive and accessible coaching supports more people to enjoy their time to be and stay active for life. Later in the week, Activity Alliance, in partnership with UK Coaching and Sport England, will celebrate the week with an important launch.

Over nine million adults in the UK have received coaching over the past 12 months with a broad range of benefits delivered to recipients.

Here is how you can get involved:

  • If you are a coach yourself or know somebody else who is, then join in on social media. Celebrate what makes them a great inclusive coach using the hashtag #GreatCoaching.
  • Recognise your own coach who demonstrates UK Coaching’s principles of great coaching.
  • Recognise your own coach who lives and breathes great coaching by presenting them with a #GreatCoaching certificate (available on UK Coaching’s website).
