The National Young Leader Camp 2019 has been specifically designed to give young people with a visual impairment the opportunity to have fun and play sports, whilst developing key leadership skills and gaining a Sport Leaders UK accredited qualification. In addition to all of this, all campers will be supported to lead a sports session of their choice to demonstrate their newly developed skills.

The three day residential camp is free to attend for 14-16 year olds. All activities, sports leadership qualification, three nights accommodation at the Royal National College for the Blind and all meals are included. All young leaders will be supervised by qualified and DBS certified staff and instructors to ensure everybody’s safety and welfare throughout the camp.

All campers will complete a nationally recognised and Sports Leaders UK accredited level 1 course on volunteering within sport and activity. All young leaders will also get the opportunity to further their qualification by joining British Blind Sport's See My Voice project to complete the level 2 course. (Participants are not required to sign up to the See My Voice project to attend the camp.)

The See My Voice project aims to support young visually impaired people (aged 11-20) through a volunteering, mentoring and leadership programme. It helps individuals to develop new life skills, increase their confidence and improve their employability prospects. The project is funded by Sport England and the #IWill fund.
