Hampshire Disability Squad Scoop First Bluebird Care Cup

Hampshire Disability Cricket carried off the inaugural Bluebird Care Cup after winning every match in 2013. The county’s hardball squad conquered all opponents in the south west regional competition run by the BACD (British Association for Cricketers with Disabilities).

Captain Alex Hammond, who has graduated to the England Physical Disability Squad via the county’s Bluebird Care Elite Player Programme, was delighted with the squad’s achievements:

“As a side we worked very well together with both great individual and team performances and we are very proud of what we have achieved. For a young team  we played with extreme maturity and gave our all in every game.”

Sponsor and Bluebird Care franchisee Phil Miles added:

“I’m delighted with the team’s success. Our Newbury and Hook franchises have also supported Alex and Dan Reynaldo with 1 to 1 coaching programmes and both have gained international recognition.  We hope that this winter’s candidates Hugo Hammond and Josh Mead can also realise their potential.”

Hammond’s own game has gone from strength to strength in 2013, captaining the England Physical Disability team and making his Southern Electric Premier League debut for Alton.  He and Reynaldo have also recently conquered Pen-y-Fan during a squad outward bound weekend in the Brecon Beacons.
