CP Sport searching for National Table Cricket Community League players

Following on from the success of the inaugural year of the CP Sport National Table Cricket Community League (NTCCL), the national charity is proud to announce that the search for 12 new leagues to join our competition in 2014 has now begun. The project, funded by Sport England’s Inclusive Sport Fund, is entering its second year and they are looking for new areas across the country to join the competition.

The funding allows CP Sport to support all the new leagues with coaching, training courses and table cricket equipment, as well as the support they give to help leagues get started and central admin support to help the leagues to run smoothly.

The main criteria for a league to run successfully is to have four teams with squads of 10 players each who play each other a minimum of twice each (although this can be higher if required), to then provide a league winner to go on to represent the league at regional and potentially national level.

Each team registered to the league needs to pay a £50 registration fee for the 2014 season (this includes those teams who took part in TCCL in 2013). Leagues can be made up of mixture of community groups from day centres, residential homes, after school clubs or local clubs and can run to suit the requirements of the local organisations and player involved. This also goes for the matches that can be played across a period of time regular activity or on one-off festivals or competition. One thing that has been proven in Year 1 is the more partners you have involved locally the better the league will run and sustain the activity.

CP Sport has already secured the venue for this year’s competition and they are pleased to announce that the second CP Sport National CP Community League finals day will be held at Trent Bridge Nottingham on Sunday 7 December 2014.

The opportunity had over 500 participants in year one and CP Sport is keen to see these numbers grow significantly as the programme progresses.

Will your team be following in the footsteps of our 2013 winners – St Ives Rangers Table Cricket Team?
