Daredevil fundraisers take on the tower!

The English Federation of Disability Sport’s daredevil fundraisers are preparing to ‘Drop for Sport’ this weekend as they take on the tower at Canary Wharf.

All money raised will go towards increasing opportunities for disabled people in sport and physical activity through our Disability Sport Events programme.

The brave fundraisers will abseil down 50 Bank Street, one of the towers on the Canary Wharf estate: 12 floors and 63m high.

The event takes place this coming Saturday and Sunday. Registration is available online or you can come down on the day and register.

Wendy Hewer from BNY Mellon is braving the tower on Saturday. Wendy said:

“I am quite simply terrified! I can see the tower from my window at work, this is a real personal challenge for me. I am delighted to be raising funds for the English Federation of Disability Sport as a colleague highlighted the importance of disability rights and I strongly believe sport should be for everyone. As I have raised over £1,500 my colleagues are choosing the outfit I am going to abseil in so watch this space! Abseiling with four colleagues will definitely help to calm the nerves.”

The English Federation of Disability Sport has a vision that disabled people are active for life. The Disability Sport Events programme provides participation opportunities for disabled people to take part in sport at whatever level they choose. As a self-funded programme it relies on generosity through grants, donations and other fundraising initiatives to continue our much-needed work.

You can sign up now using the event registration form online.
