Portland College win National Table Cricket Community League Final 2014

On Sunday 7th December Cerebral Palsy Sport held the National Table Cricket Community League Finals Day at the famous Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in Nottingham.

The venue was transformed into 2 amphitheatres of table cricket and 8 teams from across England came together to battle it out to become the 2014 National Champions.

The National Table Cricket Community League (TCCL) was made possible through funding awarded to Cerebral Palsy Sport (CP Sport) from Sport England's Inclusive Sport Fund in 2013.

Volunteers and CP Sport staff arrived early to set up the venue and tables ready for the competition. In the morning session, Portland faced some tough competition in their group, narrowing beating both St Ives Rangers and The Falcons to finish in first place and progress through to the final.

The Championship Final saw Portland College take on Clare School in a close contest. In the end it was Portland College who emerged victorious, winning 258 - 232 over Clare School.

To celebrate a fantastic day of sport and competition, all the teams, VIPs' volunteers and staff came together for the awards presentation with a wonderful feeling of community spirit. The presentations were made by Ken Kelly (English Cricket Board), Basher Hassan and Jack Arnold (Nottingham Cricket Board), Sue Moore and Jack Kavanagh (volunteer coordinators) and Richard Harwood, Chairman of Cerebral Palsy Sport.

  • Player of the Tournament: Briony Hall (Clare School)
