UK Deaf Sport Launch DEAFinitely Inclusive London Network

On Tuesday 3 February UK Deaf Sport will be holding a launch event to unveil their new DEAFinitely Inclusive London Network to sport and leisure organisations.

The event is an opportunity for deaf community groups to meet with sports and leisure organisations and discuss how they can work together to improve access to activities, so that people who are deaf or hard of hearing have more opportunities to play, coach and volunteer in sport.

The new DEAFinitely Inclusive Network in London will help a wide range of organisations, and sport and leisure providers to understand the barriers deaf people face when wanting to participate in sport and physical activity. The Network will provide support and advice on removing these barriers to open up more opportunities for deaf and hearing impaired people to take part, officiate or volunteer in sport.

A number of representatives from a wide range of sports organisations will be attending, including Sport England, The English Federation For Disability Sport, Access Sport, British Gymnastics, The Lawn Tennis Association, England Athletics and England Golf. As well as England Handball, British Water ski and Wakeboard, British Cycling and England Netball, plus a numbers of local football clubs, Arsenal, West Ham, Brentford and Charlton.

Also attending will be a number of deaf community organisations such as National Deaf Childrens Society, Remark, Royal Association For Deaf People, Deaf Parenting UK and CommunityID. Along with disability organisations such as Motivate East, Action Disability and Disability Sports Coach UK.

London Borough Councils will be represented by Tower Hamlets, Newham, Camden, Kensington and Chelsea, Hounslow Ealing, Islington and Barking and Dagenham.
