SENDirect launches to support families to access more information

SENDirect launches on Wednesday 21January. The creators want families to be able to find the activities and support that suit their interests, preferences, lifestyle and budget, and that can make adjustments to support any additional needs they have.

Finding the right afterschool club, sporting activity, holiday cottage, personal assistant or childcare should not be a full time job – but parents tell the creators it is.

They hope it will revolutionise the way services for children with additional needs are designed, commissioned and purchased by putting families and evidence of need at the centre of the process.

It will also make it easier for organisations to promote their services directly to families and to understand and respond to demand for new and different services.

You might want to combine your attendance at the launch with a look around the Bett show which is also at the excel from Wednesday next week. They have a stall at Bett and are doing daily seminars in the SEN zone.

Already more than 1700 services have joined to begin making their vision a reality.

The launch is on Wednesday 21 January at Crowne Plaza Hotel, London Docklands 4.30 – 6.30pm

Through attending the launch you will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about how Local Authorities are using the service to support effective commissioning
  • Speak to providers about how they plan to use the service to support their business development
  • Hear from families about their hopes and ambitions for the service
  • Talk to the team about how your organisation can get involved.
