New Include to Improve resource page to support inclusive workplaces
A new dedicated resources page designed to help organisations and individuals foster more inclusive workplaces across the sport and physical activity sector has been created by the Include to Improve programme, led by Activity Alliance and Sport for Confidence.
Developed with lived experience insight, sector expertise and ongoing programme learning, the Include to Improve resources offer practical tools, clear examples and supportive guidance for improving inclusion for disabled people.
These resources aim to help employers, partners and individuals better understand and apply inclusive practices that make a meaningful difference to disabled people’s experiences in employment, volunteering and broader participation.
The first set of resources included on the hub focus on workplace adjustments, with tools that explain what adjustments can look like in practice and how they benefit both individuals and organisations. There are real examples of successful implementations. In addition, the page includes guidance on understanding schemes such as Access to Work, and clear explanations of reasonable adjustments to boost confidence when discussing changes with employers.
The page also features a suite of resources developed alongside the programme’s Lived Experience Network including guidelines, community principles, and supportive documentation designed for adaptation by other groups or organisations.
These resources are part of the wider Include to Improve programme, a two-year initiative led by Activity Alliance and Sport for Confidence, and funded by Sport England. The programme works collaboratively with disabled people and strategic partners to create more opportunities for disabled people to participate, volunteer and work in sport and physical activity.
