Our Inclusive Activity Programme (IAP) full learning package will equip you with the skills to engage disabled people and people with long-term health conditions more effectively in physical activities.

Inclusive Activity Programme logo with Sport England.This training package offers a blended learning approach which includes an in-person workshop and supporting interactive eLearning course. The practical workshop provides a hands-on learning experience to make physical activities fun and inclusive for everyone. Learn how to adapt activities to ensure inclusion and progression for all participants and take a person-centred approach when planning and delivering activity sessions.

Course details

  • A three-hour practical workshop tailored to your group or organisation's background.
  • Access to an online one-hour eLearning course for 30 days.
  • An interactive online workbook.
  • Access to tips, resources and further support on the IAP Hub and personalised learner dashboard.
  • Further development and learning opportunities.
  • All training content follows the CIMSPA Working Inclusively (working with disabled people) Population Standard.

Learning outcomes

The learning package will help you:  

  • Understand how to apply a range of tools to make your activities more inclusive. 
  • Increase your confidence and competence to include disabled people in your activities.  
  • Reflect on your current delivery and identify how you can improve.
  • Access further support, training and opportunities for yourself and disabled people you work with.

Who is this course suitable for?

  • Sport and leisure industry: paid and volunteer deliverers, activators, leaders, parents. 
  • Community groups and organisations: housing associations, youth groups and holiday clubs. 
  • Disability organisations and individuals supporting disabled people and people with long-term health conditions: Disabled People’s organisations, support workers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. 
  • Education sector: teachers, teaching assistants, lecturers, young leaders and external activity providers.
  • The full learning package is available to groups of 12-16 people. The minimum age is 14 years, provided learners can apply their learning and have an adult chaperone in attendance.

Course completion

Each participant will receive 4 CIMPSA CPD points upon completion.

Cost

The cost is £480 for a workshop for up to 16 people.
