Invitation to tender: Intersectionality insight opportunity

We are seeking a research partner to help us understand what intersectionality is in relation to disability inclusion and how it is integrated into place-based working across the sport and activity sector.

EFDS106 Me Being Active 2017 Tesfai 7

In 2021, Sport England launched its Uniting the Movement strategy. A 10-year plan to transform lives and communities through sport and physical activity. One of its aims is to address disparities in access to sport and physical activity based on people's background, gender, financial status, and location.

Activity Alliance welcomed Sport England's strategy, and in December 2024 we published our latest strategy and vision to deliver a future where all disabled people feel they belong in sports and activities. To achieve this we need to understand how intersectionality in relation to disability inclusion impacts disabled people's participation at a local level.

Building on our current knowledge, we are seeking a research partner to help us deepen our understanding of how intersectionality is/can be integrated into place-based sports and physical activity systems. We want to develop our support offer for organisations by gaining greater insight on effective intersectional approaches and examples of successful implementation.
