One year of the learning hub: supporting inclusive activity
This month marks one year since Activity Alliance launched its Learning Hub, a dedicated platform providing high-quality training and resources to support inclusive sport and physical activity.

In its first year, the Hub has gone from strength to strength. Learners now have access to 10 accredited courses, ranging from the Inclusive Activity Programme and Inclusive Communications to Customer Service Training, Inclusive Research and Evaluation, and a suite of inclusive PE eLearning courses.
Each course is accredited by CIMSPA, the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector, ensuring they meet the knowledge and skill standards expected across the workforce. Activity Alliance is also proud to have achieved CIMSPA’s ‘Enhancing’ quality assurance status, recognising the Learning Hub as a provider of the highest quality education provision.
The impact over the past year has been significant:
- Over 1,700 users signed up to the Hub.
- 671 learners completed at least one course.
- More than 1,500 learners are currently enrolled.
- 24% of learners reported having an impairment or long-term health condition.
Learners’ feedback highlights the value of the courses:
- 93% were satisfied or very satisfied.
- 92% agreed the course was valuable.
- 95% said it was worth their time.
- Confidence levels increased from 48% at the start of a course to 90% at completion.
One participant reflected:
"Fantastic course, one of the best I have done! Really enjoyed the modules and has made me think a lot about my practice."
Another shared:
"It was a thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile course, thank you for putting this together."
The Inclusive Activity Programme Schools workshop also received excellent feedback. Dominique Oughton, Operations Manager, Wiltshire & Swindon Sport said:
"The Inclusive Activity Programme equipped staff with practical tools and knowledge to create more inclusive PE and school sport, helping them confidently adapt activities for all students. By combining inclusive training for educators with meaningful opportunities for children and young people to be active, we aim to build a more inclusive PE culture across Swindon schools."
As the Learning Hub enters its second year, Activity Alliance remains committed to supporting the workforce with resources that help break down barriers and make physical activity more inclusive for everyone.
