2025 Level Playing Field Annual Fan Survey results

The threat of isolation for many disabled people in society is highlighted in the 2025 Level Playing Field Annual Fan Survey results. The survey is used to collect insight on disabled sports fans’ matchday experiences.

The barrier to attending live sport which saw the highest increase was ‘no access to a companion/PA ticket,’ while year-on-year rises in supporters identifying ‘inaccessible public transport’ and being ‘unable to travel to stadiums’ as barriers continued.

The impact of these trends is compounded by some of the findings on parking, which was an area of specific focus in this year’s survey. This is following four sets of results where ‘accessible parking’ was the most common service or facilities supporters listed they could benefit from when planning for and travelling to matches.

There have been significant signs of improvements elsewhere in the results, with the number of respondents listing ‘difficulty purchasing tickets’ as a barrier seeing the largest decrease and most substantial shift overall, while a concerning trend on disability abuse has halted.

The proportion of respondents that reported there were any sports or sporting venues they felt unable to attend due to inaccessibility dropped to a record low of 21%, continuing an encouraging trend and placing that result more than 15% below its peak in 2022.

Disabled supporters took part in the charity’s fifth annual survey in record numbers. The results report outlines the data from 2151 responses in greater depth, including the top ten overall barriers to disabled fans, and is available to view on the Level Playing Field website.

Chair of Level Playing Field, Tony Taylor, said:

"These results have become an essential resource to the charity and many other stakeholders. I am therefore immensely grateful to all the disabled fans who shared their experiences with us.
"At Level Playing Field, we recognise the importance of live sports for an unparalleled ability to bring communities together. It is therefore deeply troubling that so many of the key findings from this year’s survey results point towards inaccessibility causing isolation in society.
"This gives us some key areas to work on, and we encourage service providers and supporters to join us in those efforts.
"It is promising to see some areas of positive change where I know a lot of focus has been placed in recent years, including on ticketing, physical infrastructure and abuse, but it is vital that we remain vigilant in these areas.
"These survey responses come directly from disabled fans, and it is vital that they are acknowledged and acted upon."

An online forum will be held on Wednesday 26 November, with a presentation on the results from the 2025 Level Playing Field Annual Fan Survey.

The Zoom call will begin at 6pm and is open to both disabled and non-disabled fans. There will be opportunity for supporters to feedback and discuss what the data suggests. Register your interest on SurveyMonkey, by midnight on Tuesday 25 November.
