Remembering a colleague and friend, Charmaine Hooper
Activity Alliance is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend and former colleague, Charmaine Hooper. She passed away suddenly in the early hours of Friday 6 February morning at the age of 63.
As World Abilitysport’s Chief Executive Officer, Charmaine worked tirelessly for the advancement of Para sport and was a huge advocate for Para athletes worldwide. Her leadership, strength, and unwavering commitment shaped their organisation and left an enduring impact across the Paralympic Movement.
Jannine Walker, Head of Events and Programmes, said:
“I worked with Charmaine when I first began at Disability Sport England in 2002 and have either worked together or been friends ever since. Over the years, we worked on numerous major events, national championships and regional games.
“She was a passionate and unwavering champion for inclusion in sport. Someone who dedicated her life to breaking down barriers, nurturing talent, and ensuring that every disabled person had the chance to take part and thrive at any level they chose. Her kindness and warmth touched so many.
“Our thoughts and love are with her husband, Jason, and with everyone who knew, loved, and worked alongside her. She leaves a legacy that inspires us all.”
You can share your memories of Charmaine on the online condolence book.
