Webinar - Access for all: Creating accessible places and spaces
Sign up for the latest Activity Alliance webinar that will take place on Monday 16 March at 10am. This one-hour online event will look at creating accessible places and spaces using Activity Alliance’s Access for All guide.
There are over 16 million disabled people in the UK (around a quarter of the population). However, many disabled people face significant barriers to accessing both indoor and outdoor spaces. These barriers can be societal, financial, psychological and physical. By removing these barriers, we can ensure that more people can enjoy the positive impact of being active.
Activity Alliance’s Access for All guide is for everyone, whether you’re a physical activity provider, venue owner, coach, event organiser, volunteer, parent, carer or supporter. The guide will empower you to create easy, practical and cost-effective solutions to enhance accessibility. It provides information on all aspects of making an activity inclusive, including, an accessible welcome, and accessible indoor and outdoor spaces.
Join us for a free online event, where we will share insight from those who created the guide, and hear from partners who have put the guide’s suggestions and solutions into practice to ensure disabled people feel they belong in sports and activities.
Andrew Whitaker, Activity Alliance Strategic Lead – Partnerships, will host the event. He will be joined by Jean Hewitt, Accessibility and Inclusion specialist, Buro Happold. Jean co-produced the Access for All guide with Activity Alliance. She will host a panel discussion with partners to discuss their experiences of using the guide to make their places and spaces more accessible.
Panellists include:
- Pia Larsson – Project Officer (Access and Participation), Nene Park Trust
- Gareth Lorman – Project Officer, Nene Park Trust
- Ian Bennett – Adaptive Lead, Wave Project
- Rachel McHugh – Partnership Manager, Together an Active Future
