Activity Alliance CEO appointed Disability and Access Ambassador
Everyone at Activity Alliance is proud to share that our Chief Executive, Adam Blaze, has been appointed as the government’s Disability and Access Ambassador (DAA) for sports and physical activity.
Adam succeeds Tim Hollingsworth OBE in the role and will work with government, partners and organisations across the sector to help improve accessibility, inclusion and opportunities for disabled people in sport and physical activity.
The appointment recognises Adam’s longstanding commitment to challenging inequalities and creating lasting change for disabled people. Throughout his career, he has championed the importance of listening to lived experience, removing barriers and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be active.
Adam Blaze said:
“I am honoured to be appointed Disability and Access Ambassador for sports and physical activity. This is an important opportunity to build on the progress already made and continue working alongside disabled people, partners and organisations to drive meaningful change.
“Too many disabled people still face barriers to being active. By working together, sharing expertise and keeping disabled people’s experiences at the heart of decision-making, we can help create a future where everyone feels they belong in sports and activities.”
Adam became Chief Executive of Activity Alliance in January 2023. As the leading voice for disabled people in sport and activity, the charity works to influence lasting change so disabled people can be active in the way they choose.
He has dedicated his career to changing attitudes towards disabled people in sport and activity. Before joining Activity Alliance, Adam spent 15 years at Sport England and has also worked at The FA and Loughborough University. He brings extensive experience in equality, investment management and impact measurement, alongside lived experience of disability within his family.
The Disability and Access Ambassador programme brings together senior leaders from a range of sectors to use their expertise and experience to improve accessibility and inclusion for disabled people.
In this role Adam will work with organisations across the sector to improve accessibility and inclusion, helping ensure disabled people’s voices are heard and valued.
We are delighted to see Adam take on this important role. His leadership, experience and unwavering commitment to improving opportunities for disabled people make him exceptionally well placed to continue driving progress across sports and activities.
