DSAuk Members Excel at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow
DSAuk members delivered an outstanding series of performances at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, showcasing determination, resilience and world-class talent across para powerlifting and para swimming. The action got underway in spectacular fashion in the para powerlifting competition, where Mark Swan made history by claiming the first gold medal of the Games. Competing in the men’s lightweight division, Swan produced a phenomenal 222kg lift to secure the Commonwealth title and write his name into the history books.

British Blind Sport
This year's BBS Junior Swim Festival will be held on Sunday 18 October at the Tudor Grange Leisure Centre in Solihull. Every year, British Blind Sport partners with Swim England to host the BBS Junior Swimming Festival, formerly known as the National Youth Swimming Gala. The event provides an excellent opportunity for young people with a visual impairment aged 3 to 17 from all over the UK to participate in fun and competitive activities. Attendees also get the chance to meet VI athletes on the para-swimming pathway, who will share their experiences and advice on what it takes to become a competitive swimmer. Transforming access and connection to physical activity through community partnerships
Sport for Confidence CIC continues to work in partnership with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and a growing network of local organisations, including Active Notts, to explore new ways of supporting people with learning disabilities to access meaningful physical activity within their communities. What began as an ambitious, place-based partnership has evolved into a practical and impactful model that brings together health, social care and community provision in a more connected way.

New Birmingham Billboard Campaign Brings the Beyond Legacy to Life
As a landmark summer of sport shines a spotlight on elite competition – from the Men’s Football World Cup to Wimbledon – the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships is ensuring the conversation about inclusion extends beyond just the biggest stages and into local communities. Thanks to the generous support of Ocean Outdoor, a new Digital Out of Home (DOOH) billboard campaign by Access Sport, StreetGames, the London Marathon Foundation (LMF) and UK Sport have launched across Birmingham.

Fill in our Survey for Physical Activity Providers on Inclusive Provisions for Disabled People
Disability Rights UK, supported by the Disability and Physical Activity Impact Collective, is inviting physical activity providers to complete a short baseline survey about inclusive physical activity provision for Disabled people. The survey questions have been co-designed with members of the Disability and Physical Activity Impact Collective. The survey aims to better understand what activities, services, facilities and support are currently available for Disabled people, as well as the practical, organisational and systemic challenges providers may face when delivering inclusive opportunities. It is also intended to capture why some providers may not currently offer specific activities or services for Disabled people.

The final sessions of the term were full of celebration, recognising not only what happens on the sports court, but the determination, perseverance and commitment shown by our members throughout the year.

Library of Birmingham turns red to celebrate Special Olympics Global Week of Inclusion
The Library of Birmingham was illuminated in red as part of Special Olympics International's Global Week of Inclusion, celebrating the power of inclusion and recognising that the city will host the culmination of the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games 2026. Special Olympics GB is a movement that uses sport to create a world where people with intellectual (learning) disabilities are seen, valued and taken seriously. Its National Summer Games programme began in May and is providing competition opportunities across 15 sports for more than 1,200 children and adults with an intellectual disability.

Every year, we celebrate the iconic Tour de France with an inclusive cycling celebration for disabled people with complex needs. This year, with brand new sponsors Decathlon supporting us and the help of family members, staff, fundraisers and partners, we've smashed all records! Astonishingly, 800 people cycled a combined 3,146km - that's the equivalent of 10 days continuous cycling or the distance of the Tour de France plus a tour of every Sense service in England and Wales!
