Get Set Be the Change is a free, curriculum-linked programme from ParalympicsGB that introduces primary school children to the social model of disability – that disability is created by barriers in our environment and in people's attitudes, not by the person.

At the heart of the programme is the Lion Class — a series of original animated stories co-created with disabled young people and ParalympicsGB athletes. Each story follows a character who encounters a barrier, and shows what happens when the people around them notice, understand, and do something about it. The stories are designed to be the starting point for a conversation - not the end of one.

Children can enter a competition by creating their own story inspired by what they’ve discovered. Winners see:

  • Their story brought to life by a professional illustrator and published in a physical book.
  • Plus, their school or community group could win a workshop led by Paralympic gold medallist and illustrator Sophie Kamlish.

By registering on the Get Set website, educators, families and community groups can get access to:

  • Animated short stories where children get to meet the Lion Class
  • A pre-teach video led by ParalympicsGB athletes as well as a complete lesson pack with activities
  • A competition form for schools, community groups, or children at home to submit their entries.
