Inclusive training review

The IFI have been reviewing the content and delivery of the IFI Mark training courses. In respect of the Disability Equality Training, we have been in discussion with CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity), www.cimspa.co.uk about creating an online version of our training course for fitness industry staff. 

Both CIMSPA and the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) are committed to ensuring that the training developed meets the current needs of the Sport & Physical Activity industry. So to begin the process of scoping this work we would like to consult with leisure facilities both IFI Mark or not and sports clubs, to receive your input as to the feasibility of your staff accessing Disability Equality Training online to establish a baseline for content.

EFDS and CIMSPA are committed to developing courses that meets the needs of the fitness industry

The aims of the new course would be to ensure that staff working within sport and the fitness industry, deliver a high quality service with confidence to welcome new and existing disabled users to their facilities.  This course could be available to replace the existing classroom based level 1 training, although if this is a preferred option by some facilities/clubs training would still be available in its current format.

Depending on the survey feedback received, we envisage that the online training could be available from September 2012.  In the meantime, EFDS are still delivering the classroom based 6 hour, Disability Equality Training.
