Speakers announced for Nottingham 2015: sport conference at CPISRA World Games

Cerebral Palsy Sport is delighted to announce that Mike Brace CBE, former Chief Executive of Vision 2020 and Emma Boggis, Chief Executive of Sport and Recreation Alliance will deliver keynote speeches at Nottingham 2015: Equality and equity in disability sport conference on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August.

Former Chief Executive of Vision 2020 (2001-2012) and Chairman of the British Paralympic Association (2001-2008,) Mike Brace CBE will officially open Cerebral Palsy Sport’s disability sport conference on Wednesday 12 August, at Nottingham Conference Centre. Mike is a big advocate of sport for disabled people and his opening address will focus on the changing face of disability sport. 

The two day conference will look at the issue of how equitable disability sport is. Workshops and discussions will focus around four main themes: therapy and sport, investment opportunities, new participation opportunities and coach development. The conference will also explore and highlight examples of better practice in disability sport and physical activity. 

On Thursday 13 August, Emma Boggis Chief Executive of Sport and Recreation Alliance will deliver the keynote address on the importance of partnerships and alliance in the disability sector. Previous to her current role, Emma worked in the Cabinet Office as head of Olympic and Paralympic Legacy Unit, supporting Lord Coe in his role as the Prime Minister’s Legacy Ambassador.

Nottingham 2015: Disability Sport Conference aims to provide sport delivery agencies, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and education professionals a unique opportunity to hear first-hand about current practices used to engage more disabled people in sport and physical activity. As well as the main conference programme there will be opportunities to network, talk to exhibitors and attend the CPISRA World Games.

Cerebral Palsy Sport, the National Disability Sports Organisation for people with cerebral palsy and physical impairments, is delivering the conference with generous support from Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, Sport England and Bear IT.
