Sainsbury’s Inclusive Community Training is perfect fit for #ActiveSummerFun

A new participation campaign created by the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) and National Disability Sport Organisations (NDSOs) is encouraging more disabled people to find out and play out over summer.

And with dozens of sessions of Sainsbury’s Active Kids for All Inclusive Community Training scheduled for the remaining six months of 2015, what better time to get involved?

Active Summer Fun - #ActiveSummerFun on social media - is an exciting new campaign that aims to support more disabled people to find ways to be active during the warmer months.

Coincidentally, in recent weeks it has been revealed that over 2,000 people have now benefited from the professional, practical and enjoyable workshop that makes up Sainsbury’s Inclusive Community Training.

So why not consider joining in with Active Summer Fun, you could play an important role in making active lives possible by arranging a session of Sainsbury’s Inclusive Community Training, or alternatively attending an already-arranged workshop in your local area?

There are dozens advertised on the Events page on the EFDS website, and it is a straightforward process when it comes to arranging your own session – just contact the Active Kids for All team at EFDS.

A recent attendee called Charlotte, who enjoyed a workshop earlier this summer, told EFDS:

“I learned a lot of useful tips and ways to help everyone get involved in sports and physical activity. I learned how to adapt more sports and I’ve learned ways in which to adapt so that individuals are not barred from the activity, but are given a chance to achieve their maximum potential.

“Sainsbury’s Inclusive Community Training is a very good course, with great tutors and well-prepared.”

Sainsbury’s Inclusive Community Training, part of Sainsbury’s Active Kids for All, is a creative, informal and informative workshop. It consists of three hours of practical training, supplemented by online resources, and it is designed to improve the skills and confidence of those who support disabled people to be more active.

Described as "fun, interactive and interesting" by past participants, Sainsbury’s Inclusive Community Training recently passed a significant milestone with over 2,000 participants having taken part in a session.

Meanwhile, Active Summer Fun, supported by Sport England, will help disabled people to find the best information, ideal activities as well as the right people and organisations that can support you to be more active.

Courtney Perks, Marketing and Communications Advisor at EFDS, said:

“It’s been a great pleasure to work with all the NDSOs on the creation of this campaign, and I expect we’ll have lots of fun together over the next few months.

“This summer is jam-packed full of activities for disabled people to enjoy. Whether wanting to take part at a local level or spectate at an international championships, the next few months are crammed with exciting opportunities. Long after the summer is over, the organisations will continue to work together to encourage more people to be active together.

“No matter what the weather brings this summer, being active indoors or outdoors can be great fun. When it’s fun, we are more likely to carry on being active too.”
