County Sports Partnership Network back Chartership

The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) has signed a partnership agreement with the County Sports Partnership Network, the first of its kind for British Sport.  The network, who are responsible for the strategic local delivery of national sports policy and community sports campaigns have a network of 49 offices across England comprising of over 5,000 staff.

Sean Holt, CEO of CIMSPA said:

“We are delighted that the County Sport Partnership Network have taken the decision to sign up to CIMSPA and in doing so highlight the importance of professional development pathways within their workforce. We very much hope that other Sports bodies follow the excellent example set by The County Sport Partnership Network.”

He continued, “We are speaking with the Government departments responsible for Sport, Health and Skills to ensure that any funding awarded to Sports Governing Bodies is accompanied by a proviso that they adequately train and invest in their workforce to tackle the issues of tomorrow, rather than relying on practices that tackled the engagement issues of yester years.”

Lee Mason, CEO of the CSPN said:

“The Management Board of the County Sports Partnership Network are committed to making our relationship with CIMSPA work effectively for our workforce.

He continued, “Post London 2012, the County Sports Partnership Network will face new challenges and we recognise that it is the ethos and determination of our workforce that are critical ingredients to achieving legacy from the Games. As a Charity responsible for the frontline strategic development and in many cases, in the current economic climate, the delivery of local community sport, the performance of our workforce is our absolute priority.”

The new partnership agreement will come into effect on September 1st, 2012.  CIMSPA and the CSPN will be developing a joint suite of professional development opportunities to support the workforce.
