Great Britain name European Deaf Tennis Championships Squad

Geraint Richards, the Tennis Foundation’s Head of Disability Player Performance, today announced his players selected to represent Great Britain in the 13th European Deaf Tennis Championships, to be held in Portoroz, Slovenia on 4 - 11 June 2016.

Organised by the Slovenian Deaf Sports Association under the auspices of the European Deaf Sports Organisation, the event will also incorporate the 1st European Deaf Junior Tennis Championships, with Great Britain fielding players in both senior and junior championships.

Great Britain deaf tennis coaching staff:

Young talent, Esah Hayat has been selected to complete in both the men's and junior championships. He said:

“I am extremely proud of my accomplishment last year at the World Championships and it has given me a lot of confidence for the European Championships.

“I think I have improved a lot as a player since the World Championships, as I have been training harder, and have experienced the high level of competition in deaf tennis, which has motivated me to get even better. I’m taller and stronger than I was last year, and I am continuing to improve my technique and tactical game.”

The 13th European Deaf Tennis Championships and 1st European Deaf Junior Tennis Championships take place in Portoroz in Slovenia from 4-11 June 2016.
