Gearing up for Parents in Sport Week
Parents in Sport Week – running from 3 to 9 October 2016 – focuses on how parents can greatly influence a child’s experience in sport through their actions, both positive and negative.
Over the past weeks, the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) have produced a number of resources to help promote the event's aim of getting parents involved in sport in a positive way.
Since the CPSU launched Parents in Sport Week, the support has been excellent, with now over 100 organisations that have pledged their support.
The CPSU wants help from sports organisations to raise awareness of the crucial role parents have in helping a child reach their full potential.
Broadly, the week will look at parental involvement under the following themes:
- Motivation
- Responsibility
- Communication
