GB Championships and Cheshire International Boccia Championships 2014

Boccia England is ready to welcome athletes and supporters to four days of elite boccia action at Robin Park Arena in Wigan. Following a successful 2013 event, this season's GB Championships is again hosted by Boccia England in partnership with the GB Boccia Federation.

On Thursday 8 and Friday 9 May, 42 competitors will battle it out for the title of GB Champion. All BC1, BC2, BC3 and BC4 competitors have qualifying based on their performance in their respective national championships. The individual competitions will commence from 11.00 Thursday, culminating with the knock out stages on Friday.

Following this and heading into its sixth year of existence, the Cheshire is an annual friendly international taking place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May - the only competition of its kind in the UK and one of the top events in Europe.

This is a recognised world class event for BC3 and BC4 pairs, and BC1/BC2 team competitors. Home countries along with several world ranked countries; Poland, Slovak Republic and Ireland, will compete. The event is also organised by Boccia England staff and supported by a team of 40 volunteers. Matches will commence from 09.00 Saturday and Sunday with spectators welcome throughout the weekend.

Boccia is a Paralympic sport and one of only three sports that has no parallel in the Olympic movement. The National Governing for the sport in England is Boccia England. They are responsible for the promotion and development of the sport from grassroots participation to England level.
