New activity cards released to help deliver inclusive sessions

Activity Alliance has released a series of activity cards designed to help deliver high quality inclusive activities for all participants.

Each set of cards is jam-packed with fun games and activities, with adaptions available based on Youth Sport Trust's STEP method. With the help of these easy to follow cards, deliverers will be able to confidently adapt, modify and progress activities for participants with different abilities and/or specific impairments.

The cards, available to download from our resources page, provide activities for all ages and abilities, supporting participants to be physically active and to lead a healthy life.

With 25 games and activities across five different categories there’s plenty of choice for deliverers. The categories include warm up games, fundamental skills, striking and fielding skills, invasion games, and net court, and wall games.

These activity aides are perfect for those who run a local community, sport or activity group. At Activity Alliance we know that many people need help and advice on how to create accessible opportunities for disabled people in sport and physical activity. This new resource will provide clear answers on how to ensure all participants are able to enjoy sport and physical activity.

Each card suggests how to use Youth Sport Trust’s STEP Tool to make the activity easier or harder for those with different abilities, and/or specific impairments. Chloe Studley, Programmes Manager, said:

"Everyone deserves an equal opportunity to take part in sport and physical activity.  These new activity cards are a fantastic new resource that will support deliverers across the UK to include, challenge, and progress all participants by embedding inclusive practices. Taking an inclusive approach is the best way to ensure your activity sessions can be enjoyed by  everyone."
